Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver has been sworn in to begin her full term representing Pennsylvania's 27th District. Initially elected in a special election in January 2023, she filled the vacancy left by former Senator John Gordner and was re-elected for a four-year term in November 2024.

“It was an honor to be elected to the state Senate in 2023, and I am humbled by the vote of confidence constituents showed in 2024 by sending me back to Harrisburg. I am their voice in the Capitol, and their concerns are my concerns,” Culver stated.

Before her tenure in the Senate, Culver served seven terms representing the 108th District in the state House of Representatives. Her career also includes over two decades as staff leader for former state Representative Merle Phillips.

During her initial years as a senator, Culver sponsored legislation that became law. These laws focus on protecting domestic animals and food supplies from diseases, allowing licensed practical nurses to make death pronouncements in hospice settings, and reforming a state board involved with policy analysis related to geospatial information.

Though committee assignments for the upcoming legislative session have not been finalized, Culver is expected to chair a committee. Previously, she served on various committees including Appropriations, Aging and Youth, Finance, Health and Human Services among others during the 2023-24 session.

“A new session brings a fresh start and an opportunity to achieve even more both legislatively and in the district. I look forward to working hard for the people of the 27th and taking on the issues that are important to them,” said Culver.

The district encompasses Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder County as well as parts of Luzerne County. More details about Senator Culver can be found at SenatorCulver.com or through her social media channels.
