Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver and Representative Michael Stender have announced the allocation of $950,000 in state grants aimed at enhancing transportation infrastructure in Montour and Northumberland Counties. The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved these grants through its Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) program, which is designed to improve community connectivity and transportation networks.
“These grants represent a significant investment in the infrastructure of Montour and Northumberland Counties,” said Culver. “By supporting these critical road reconstruction projects, we are ensuring safer, more reliable transportation for our residents and laying the groundwork for continued economic growth in our communities.”
Representative Stender expressed his support as well: “I’m happy to see these dollars coming to support our community. Better roads are crucial to our daily lives, and this funding will help make a real difference.”
The grant distribution includes $350,000 for Danville Borough to reconstruct a segment of Church Street in Montour County. Delaware Township will receive $250,000 for Phase I reconstruction of Vincent Avenue in Northumberland County. Lewis Township is set to receive $150,000 for road construction along Old State Road in Northumberland County. Sunbury City will also benefit from $350,000 allocated for the reconstruction of Packer Street.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund is managed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under the Department of Community and Economic Development.
