State Senator Lynda Culver | Pennsylvania
State Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver was sworn in today in Harrisburg as the new senator for Pennsylvania's 27th District. Culver, a Republican, will represent residents in Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder counties, and part of Luzerne County. She won a special election on January 31 to fill the vacancy left by former Senator John Gordner.
"It is an honor to serve in the state Senate and represent the people in our district," said Culver. Gordner stepped down last year to take a position with Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward.
"When I travel to Harrisburg, I take the values and priorities of the people in the 27th District with me," Culver stated. "I try to bring the commonsense approach that works in our district and apply it to the issues facing our commonwealth."
Culver's induction gives Senate Republicans a 28-22 seat majority. Before joining the Senate, she served seven terms in the state House for the 108th District after working over two decades as staff leader for former state Representative Merle Phillips.
"Public service isn’t just what I do. It’s a part of who I am," Culver expressed. "I feel blessed to live in our area and enjoy serving the people in our district. I will work hard to make our communities and our commonwealth a better place to live, work and raise a family."
Culver will complete Gordner's four-year term ending November 2024. The 27th District covers all of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder counties, and parts of Luzerne County including several townships and boroughs.
