Geisinger Lewistown Hospital has unveiled its newly renovated sleep center, now located on the second floor. This move is part of a broader renovation project aimed at providing all private rooms at the hospital.
Since its establishment in 2005, the Geisinger Lewistown Hospital Sleep Center has been dedicated to diagnosing and treating various sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, and narcolepsy.
“Renovating our hospital is not just about updating the physical space, it's about enhancing patient care, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring that our facilities meet the highest standards of safety and comfort,” said AJ Hartsock, the associate vice president of clinical operations for Geisinger’s western region. “Modernizing our infrastructure allows us to provide the best possible care to our community and stay at the forefront of improvements.”
The updated facility provides private, comfortable bedrooms intended to support patients in feeling at home during sleep studies. Additionally, the center offers unattended home sleep testing available within 24 hours of a clinical evaluation.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine accredits the center, ensuring quality standards for both in-center and in-home testing services.
An event marking the opening of the renovated sleep center was attended by Karina Henriquez, M.D., medical director; AJ Hartsock, associate vice president of clinical operations; Michelle Berrier, technologist lead; Amy Morgan, nurse supervisor; and Ron Napikoski, director.
