Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver of Pennsylvania has announced her committee assignments for the 2025-26 legislative session. She will chair the Senate Education Committee and serve as Vice Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee, where she was a member during the previous session. Additionally, she will return to the Aging & Youth, Intergovernmental Operations, and Appropriations Committees. New appointments include roles on the Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure and Local Government Committees.

"I am deeply honored with these committee assignments," stated Culver. "They align with a number of policy initiatives I have championed in the Senate and as a member of the House of Representatives and that I will continue to advocate for in the new session."

Culver has been active in advocating for afterschool funding and elder abuse prevention. She is sponsoring legislation to enhance career and technical education equipment grants. Her proposals also include providing tax benefits to living organ donors, licensing recreational therapists and radiological imaging professionals, establishing a Childcare Workforce Commission, and allowing family caregivers to be certified as Complex Care Assistants.

"The committee process is a necessary component for vetting and if needed, improving bills to be sent to the full Senate and then to the House for consideration," said Culver. "Serving on these important committees allows me to be part of the early decision making on a wide range of consequential pieces of legislation."

With Education and Human Services accounting for approximately 80% of the state budget, Culver's roles as Chair of the Education Committee and Vice Chair of Health & Human Services will play a significant role when budget hearings commence in February.

"I look forward to what is to come in the new session and with these committee assignments," expressed Culver. "There is a lot to be done for the people of Pennsylvania and my constituents in the 27th District, and I am eager to continue this important work."
