Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver, along with Representatives Mike Cabell and Alec Ryncavage, have announced the allocation of over $1.5 million in state grants aimed at enhancing projects in Luzerne County. The funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account Program, which supports public interest projects using revenue from casinos.
“These state grants help move these projects forward without financially burdening local governments or the taxpayers who fund them,” stated Sen. Culver. She emphasized that the state acts as a financial partner to assist county and municipal governments in improving residents' quality of life.
Rep. Cabell highlighted his collaboration with Slocum Township supervisors over two years, noting the importance of a playground project for local children. “I was very pleased that Sen. Culver and I could help secure some funding for these improvements,” he said.
Rep. Ryncavage expressed pride in their efforts to focus on infrastructure and services for their constituents amid rising costs due to inflation. He stated their commitment to working with local officials to complete these essential projects despite financial challenges.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority is an independent agency under the Department of Community and Economic Development, overseeing numerous programs related to economic development and community improvement across Pennsylvania.
