Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver and Representative JoAnne Stehr have announced the allocation of over $2.3 million in state grants for projects aimed at benefiting Northumberland County residents. The funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Local Share Account Program, which supports public interest, community improvement, and economic development projects using casino-generated gaming money.
Culver emphasized the significance of these financial resources: “The state is providing financial resources to counties and local governments to fund projects that will positively impact Northumberland County residents. The state dollars make a big difference because some of these projects might otherwise be unaffordable for municipal governments.”
Stehr highlighted the importance of the proposed projects: “The proposed projects for this grant funding, including essential upgrades to borough halls, fire apparatus, and public safety vehicles, reflect our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents in Northumberland County. By investing LSA funds into these initiatives, we are ensuring that our municipal services are safe, efficient, and able to meet the needs of our families for years to come.”
The Commonwealth Financing Authority is an independent agency under Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development responsible for administering various economic development and community improvement programs.
