Among them are the Aristes Fire Company #1, Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Company, Benton Volunteer Fire Company, Bloomsburg Fire Department Inc., Bloomsburg Volunteer Ambulance Association Inc., Buckhorn Community Fire Company No.1, Catawissa Hose Company 1, Espy Fire Company, Lightstreet Community Fire Company, Lime Ridge Fire Company No. 1, Main Township Volunteer Fire Company, Mifflin Township Forest Rangers and Fire Company 1, Millville Community Fire Company, North Mountain Volunteer Fire Company, Orangeville Volunteer Fire Company, Ranger Hose Company 2, Reliance Fire Company No.1, Summerhill Fire Co. 1, Valley Chemical Fire Company, and West Berwick Hose Company No. 1.
The grant funding will be used for a variety of projects and programs, including facility upgrades, equipment purchases, debt reduction, training and certification, education and public outreach, and recruitment and retention efforts. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency administers the program, with the application process handled through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).
It is important to note that the funding for these grants is generated from slot machine gaming proceeds, not from General Fund tax revenue. This ongoing funding program was created by the General Assembly to support the vital work of fire and EMS companies across the state.
