HARRISBURG – Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) and Rep. Alec Ryncavage (R-119) have announced that a $50,000 state grant has been awarded to Wright Township Recreation Park for improvements. The grant, provided through the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program, will help fund the park's ongoing improvement project.

"Wright Township Recreation Park and the people it serves will benefit through this investment made possible with Marcellus Shale natural gas impact fee revenue," stated Culver. "The park serves as a regional asset and brings generations of residents together to enjoy outdoor recreational activities. This state grant will ensure the park remains a valuable part of our community, now and in the future."

The $50,000 grant will allow Wright Township to move forward with phase three of the improvement project, ensuring that families in the community have a safe and welcoming environment to enjoy outdoor activities. Rep. Ryncavage expressed his enthusiasm for the funding, stating, "This park has been a staple in our community for many years, where families are able to go and enjoy the outdoors and each other's company. With this funding, the park will be able to continue providing a place for families to have fun."

The grant was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The CFA administers the state's economic stimulus packages and oversees the distribution of funds for various projects.

The funding for this program is made possible through the 2012 law that established an impact fee on Marcellus Shale natural gas wells. This fee has been instrumental in providing financial support for community projects across the state.

The Wright Township Recreation Park is a beloved community space that has brought joy and recreation to residents for many years. With the help of this state grant, the park will continue to serve as a valuable asset for the community, providing a place for families to come together and enjoy outdoor activities.
