State Representative Robert Leadbeter has been appointed as the Republican chairman of the Subcommittee on Courts for the upcoming 2025-26 Legislative Session. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rob Kauffman made the announcement, selecting Leadbeter for this leadership position within the House Judiciary Committee.
The Subcommittee on Courts is responsible for addressing issues relating to the judiciary and court system in Pennsylvania. This includes oversight of the state's courts, investigating judicial misconduct, considering judiciary-related policies, and shaping laws governing the judicial branch.
Leadbeter expressed his gratitude for the appointment, stating, “I’m humbled to be named to this esteemed checks-and-balances position to ensure our laws are being followed.” He emphasized the importance of law and order for the safety of residents in his district and across Pennsylvania and aligned his philosophy with that of former President Donald Trump, particularly in keeping activist judges in check. “If there’s overwhelming evidence that an activist judge is misbehaving in his or her role, one of my responsibilities would be to begin the impeachment process of that individual,” he added, while thanking Chairman Kauffman for the trust placed in him.
Kauffman expressed confidence in Leadbeter’s capabilities, saying, “Rep. Leadbeter is a trusted and proven leader who I know will excel in this position. I look forward to working with him in this new capacity within the committee.”
The 109th Legislative District, represented by Leadbeter, includes all of Columbia County. Constituents are encouraged to contact his offices for state-related matters or to share their perspectives on legislative issues.
