A roadway project in the 109th Legislative District has been granted $500,000 from the Multimodal Transportation Fund, under the administration of the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The grant, announced by Representative Robert Leadbeter from Columbia County, is aimed at repairing and paving three roads in Franklin Township.
Representative Leadbeter stated, "It's about time we see public resources rightfully returning to Columbia County and our cherished rural communities, rather than continually being siphoned off to the big urban centers like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh." He emphasized that these funds align with conservative principles and address the needs of local residents, such as farmers, small business owners, families, seniors, and law enforcement who utilize these roads daily.
State Representative Lynda Schlegel Culver added, “These state grant dollars will help pay to repair and pave these three roads without further burdening local taxpayers. This is an example of state government providing financial resources to fund important projects in our local communities.”
The allocation of funds is determined based on criteria including safety improvements, regional economic conditions, feasibility aspects, job creation potential, energy efficiency, and the sustainability of operations. The Multimodal Transportation Fund is designed to support economic development while ensuring a reliable and safe transportation system for residents across the Commonwealth.
