HARRISBURG - State Representative Michael Stender and Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver have announced funding of over $900,000 for local roadway projects, approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
The financial backing includes $217,442 allocated to the Borough of Turbotville for sidewalk work along Paradise Street. Montandon Development Group LLC has been awarded $514,015 for the construction of turning lanes and a new traffic signal on State Route 45, situated in West Chillisquaque Township within Northumberland County. Additionally, the Northumberland Montour Joint Airport Authority will receive $241,970 to upgrade the Danville airport.
Representative Stender expressed satisfaction with the funding, stating, “I’m pleased to see funding support for our local road and airport projects, emphasizing job creation and public safety improvement.”
Senator Culver remarked, “These state grant dollars will help pay to repair and pave these three roads without further burdening local taxpayers. This is an example of state government providing financial resources to fund important projects in our local communities.”
The grant awards are determined by factors such as safety benefits, regional economic conditions, and the technical and financial feasibility of projects. The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to spur economic development and maintain a safe and dependable transport system for residents of the Commonwealth.
