Anthony J. McDonald confirmed as judge for Columbia and Montour counties

The Pennsylvania Senate has confirmed Anthony J. McDonald as Judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Columbia and Montour Counties. McDonald, who has a legal career spanning over three decades, is set to bring his extensive experience and commitment to public service to this new role.

McDonald's academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, obtained in 1991, followed by a Juris Doctor degree from The Dickinson School of Law in 1994. His professional journey features roles such as Assistant Columbia County Solicitor, Columbia County Solicitor, Assistant Public Defender, and Assistant District Attorney. He has also been involved with various municipal governments.

In addition to his legal work, McDonald has participated actively in community organizations like the Berwick Rotary Club, the Berwick Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Berwick Area United Way.

“I am honored and humbled by this appointment,” said Judge McDonald. “I am committed to serving the citizens of Columbia and Montour Counties with fairness, integrity, and a dedication to justice.”

Judge McDonald will begin his judicial responsibilities after receiving his commission and oath of office from the Governor and the Department of State within the next few weeks.
