State Senator Lynda Culver | Pennsylvania
The governor delivered his annual budget address last week, and Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) has announced her appointment to the Senate Appropriations Committee. This committee is tasked with holding hearings and examining the details of the governor's budget plan in the coming weeks.
"The governor provided a broad overview of his budget and now we will review his plan, study the details, and work to craft a state spending plan," Culver stated.
Culver's appointment was made by Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-39), and she will serve on seven committees in total. Among these is the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, which addresses legislation impacting public health, human services, Medical Assistance programs, substance use disorders, mental health services, rural health care disparities, among others.
As both a member of this committee and a kidney transplant recipient herself, Culver aims to introduce legislation focused on organ donation improvement for donors and recipients.
Additionally, Culver will be part of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee. This body oversees programs for Pennsylvania's senior citizens and youth. Her role extends to the Senate Finance Committee where she will engage in tax-related legislative reviews alongside overseeing several departments including Revenue and Treasury.
Her responsibilities also include reviewing regulations affecting bodies like the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as part of her role in the Senate Law and Justice Committee. Moreover, she will participate in discussions about restructuring state government within the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee.
Culver is set to handle issues related to public housing and urban development through her involvement with the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee. "I’m excited about the opportunity to serve on a diverse array of Senate committees that address a wide variety of public policy initiatives," expressed Culver.
