State Rep. Robert Leadbeter | Pennsylvania 109th Legislative District
State Representative Robert Leadbeter announced over $2.2 million in state grants allocated to various communities across Columbia County. These funds are intended for infrastructure and safety projects.
“I’m proud to announce these critical grants that will help our local communities. Columbia County is home to hard-working families who deserve safe public spaces and properly maintained infrastructure that will support a thriving community,” stated Leadbeter. “These investments help us build a brighter future for our families, support the local economy, and preserve the vitality of Columbia County.”
The grant distribution includes:
- Benton Borough: $80,316 for a police vehicle and equipment.
- Benton Municipal Water and Sewer Authority: $68,310 for a vehicle.
- Briar Creek Township: $127,767 for a maintenance vehicle.
- Briar Creek Township: $27,476 for police department equipment upgrades.
- Catawissa Borough: $84,870 for security cameras installation.
- Catawissa Borough Municipal Authority: $13,186 for a generator purchase.
- Catawissa Township: $220,028 for a combination tractor, mower, and snowplow.
- Mifflin Township: $117,670 to replace a deteriorated bridge.
Four school districts will also benefit from this funding:
- Columbia Montour Area Vocational Technical School receives $700,000 for ADA compliance renovations and other upgrades.
- Berwick Area School District is granted $581,250 for roof replacement at Berwick Middle School.
- Benton Area School District receives $100,000 for safety upgrades at LR Appleman Elementary School.
- Bloomsburg Area School District is awarded $100,000 for an HVAC project at W.W. Evans Elementary School.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority administers these grants as part of its role in managing programs aimed at fostering economic growth in Pennsylvania.
