Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver and Rep. David Rowe have announced that two grants totaling $123,850 have been awarded for water infrastructure projects in Perry and Washington townships. These grants, funded by the federal COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) through the H20 PA Program, will help alleviate the financial burden on local taxpayers.

Culver expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration between federal, state, and local officials, stating, "These grants help ensure the costs for these important projects don't fall on the backs of local taxpayers. Water infrastructure projects ensure residents and businesses continue to have access to these vital services."

The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. Rep. Rowe highlighted the importance of these grants in supporting local infrastructure projects, saying, "Commonwealth Financing Authority grants provide much-needed support for local infrastructure projects that benefit our communities. I am glad to see our tax dollars being reinvested locally to ensure access to the wastewater services residents rely on."

The grants were made available through the Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program, which provides funding for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain public water supply, sanitary sewer, or stormwater systems are eligible to apply for these grants as long as their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.

With this funding, Perry and Washington townships will be able to address their water infrastructure needs and ensure that residents have access to safe and reliable water services. These grants serve as an example of the government's commitment to supporting local communities and investing in essential infrastructure projects.
