Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver and Rep. Alec Ryncavage have announced that $70,000 in state grant money has been awarded to fund a water infrastructure improvement project in Wright Township. The grant, which is being funded with money from the federal COVID-19 American Rescue Plan Act funds administered through the PA Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program, will allow Wright Township to replace the Green Mountains stormwater system and restore the detention basin in the township.

Culver emphasized the importance of water infrastructure systems in the lives of local residents, stating, "Ensuring residents have access to clean drinking water and proper wastewater treatment are key functions of government." Ryncavage also highlighted the significance of the project, stating, "Through Wright Township's stormwater basin restoration, we are safeguarding the foundation of our community. This investment will enhance our infrastructure, ensuring the well-being of our residents."

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, awarded the grant. The CFA, established in 2004, administers the commonwealth's economic stimulus packages. The SWS Program, under the CFA, provides grants for small water, sewer, and stormwater infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain public water supply, sanitary sewer, or stormwater systems are eligible to apply for these grants as long as their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.

This project in Wright Township is a significant step towards improving the water infrastructure and ensuring the well-being of the residents. With the awarded grant, the Green Mountains stormwater system will be replaced, and the detention basin will be restored. These improvements will not only enhance the infrastructure but also safeguard the foundation of the community.

The importance of such investments in water infrastructure cannot be overstated. Clean drinking water and effective wastewater treatment are fundamental to the quality of life for local residents. This grant will enable Wright Township to continue providing these essential services to its residents.
