State Representatives Michael Stender and Joanne Stehr announced today that the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) has awarded a $4,000 grant to the Northumberland County Historical Society. The funding, provided through PHMC's Cultural and Historical Grant Program, will support the society in its efforts to preserve and showcase the rich history of the community.

"I'm thrilled that the Northumberland County Historical Society has been awarded this generous grant," said Representative Stehr. "The additional funding will help this remarkable organization preserve and highlight the rich history of our community. With this support, our local historical society can continue its impactful work, guaranteeing that the heritage of our community is preserved for future generations."

Representative Stender also expressed his appreciation for the grant, stating, "The Northumberland County Historical Society is a leading source in understanding the local historical value of our community. This grant not only preserves our roots but also plants seeds for a future where the echoes of our heritage resonate with strength and purpose. The community is quite grateful."

The grants were awarded based on a formula that took into account each organization's annual operating budget. In total, 158 organizations across 58 counties in Pennsylvania received funding through the program. The Northumberland County Historical Society plays a crucial role in preserving the history of the community. Through its exhibits, educational programs, and research initiatives, the society ensures that the heritage of Northumberland County is not forgotten.

The grant from PHMC will enable the society to continue its important work and expand its efforts to reach more people in the community. With the additional funding, the society will be able to enhance its exhibits, improve its facilities, and develop new educational programs that will engage visitors of all ages.

The impact of this grant extends beyond the present, as it ensures that future generations will have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Northumberland County. By preserving and highlighting the rich heritage of the community, the Northumberland County Historical Society contributes to a sense of pride and connection among its residents.

The Northumberland County Historical Society is grateful for the support from PHMC and the recognition of its valuable contributions. The society will continue to serve as a leading source of historical knowledge and a beacon of preservation in the community.

The grant award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Northumberland County Historical Society and its commitment to preserving the history of the community.
