As a guest in the 2022 Spring Series, Technologies of Disruption: Aesthetics, Innovations, and Narratives of Blackness, the Griot Institute welcomes Boris Willis, Dance Artist, Founder of Black Russian Games, Chief Artistic Officer of Boris Willis Moves, and Associate Professor of Computer Game Design at George Mason University. Willis has performed with Streb, Jacob’s Pillow’s Men Dancers, Liz Lerman/ Dance Exchange and has had various roles with Company E. He is the founder of the dance video blog danceaday.com.
Willis has an MFA in Dance and Technology from The Ohio State University, a BFA in Dance from George Mason University and is a graduate of The NC School of the Arts. He is the recipient of a Kennedy Center Local Dance Commission, a Virginia Commission for the Arts Choreography Fellowship, and was an Artist in Residence at the Watermill Center.
