Proactive Search Strategies Workshop
Are you planning to serve on a search committee? Is your department planning to conduct a search for a new position? Has it been a while since you’ve attended a search strategy workshop? You’re in luck! Associate Provost for Equity & Inclusive Excellence, Nikki Young, will be hosting an open workshop for both faculty and staff on Wednesday, November 10, 2:00-3:00pm via Zoom.

Search committee members must remain aware of issues that can impede or enhance diversity & inclusion efforts as they relate to recruitment and hiring. Each member should participate in a Proactive Search Strategies Workshop. It would also benefit the search process if members of committees participated in at least one other university sponsored workshop related to diversity, equity and inclusion.
Everyone on the committee should be:
• Knowledgeable about implicit bias and its impact
• Practiced in cultural humility
• Well-informed on issues of privilege and power
• Aware of “cognitive shortcuts and errors” outlined in diversity training
• Willing and able to speak up when questions or concerns arise
