City of Shamokin recently issued the following announcement.
Event Name: 1st Annual Recovery Awareness Walk & Fun Run

This event will be the inaugural recovery walk and fun run to raise community awareness about recovery from substance use disorder here in lower Northumberland county. The event will also help raise awareness about the new Oasis Community Recovery Club looking to put down roots in the community to help support individuals seeking resources for a joyous, happy recovery as well as their families and loved ones.
The course is 2 miles long. There are 12 race stations along the way. You will have an activity or challenge at each stop. Concluding the walk we will have a chicken bbq dinner for sale for $8. Basket raffle, 50/50 tickets, live music and several folks in recovery who will tell their stories! It’s going to be an amazing day! Please consider joining us! Rain or shine!
