Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver and Representative Michael Stender are set to host a public forum addressing firefighter recruitment in Pennsylvania. The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Route 61 Events in Sunbury. It is open to the public and free of charge.
Volunteer firefighter Eric Frantz will join the legislators to discuss community-based solutions to the volunteer firefighter shortage. These discussions will include successful youth programs and school partnerships.
“This is a critical issue facing our region and the entire Commonwealth,” said Senator Culver. “Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of emergency response in so many of our communities, and we need to make sure the next generation is encouraged, supported, and equipped to serve.”
The forum will showcase successful models like the high school firefighting club at Danville Area School District, which provides students with early exposure to public service and emergency response training.
Attendees can ask questions, share ideas, and connect with others interested in strengthening local fire services. To RSVP for the event, contact Senator Culver’s district office at 570-743-1918.
