Lauren Weaver has been appointed as the new director of the Geisinger School of Nursing, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Rebecca Stoudt, associate dean for nursing student education.
“Lauren brings a wealth of experience in nursing education, clinical practice, and academic leadership,” said Dr. Stoudt. “I am confident she will continue to make our School of Nursing the first choice for aspiring nurses looking for hands-on education that prioritizes their own communities’ health and well-being.”
Ms. Weaver expressed enthusiasm about her new role. “I am excited to take on this leadership role,” she said. “Geisinger has a respected tradition of superior nursing education and practice. I look forward to shaping our future colleagues to be ready to not only carry on that legacy, but to become leaders in their own right, prepared to respond to emerging challenges in health care.”
Weaver joined the Geisinger School of Nursing in April 2023 and has served as faculty member, academic advisor, and mentor. She contributed significantly to course development, student evaluation, and faculty onboarding processes. She also played a key part in preparing the self-study report for the school’s initial ACEN accreditation visit in 2024.
Prior to this position, Weaver worked at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing from 2019 to 2023 where she led courses across various specialties and supported ACEN re-accreditation efforts.
Her clinical experience spans more than 15 years in medical/surgical units as well as home health and hospice care settings. She has managed home health operations and provided support for program director responsibilities at the School of Nursing.
Weaver holds a Master of Science in Nursing with a Nurse Educator focus from Chamberlain University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern Mennonite University. She is certified as a nurse educator and holds multiple clinical certifications.
Geisinger College of Health Sciences serves as the academic branch of Geisinger, offering programs that include graduate medical education, research initiatives, schools for medicine and nursing, graduate education programs, as well as professional development opportunities.
