Thirty fire companies and ambulance squads in Pennsylvania’s 85th District have been awarded grants through the PA Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, according to Rep. David H. Rowe (R-Snyder/Union/Mifflin/Juniata). The funds are intended to support construction or renovations, equipment purchases and repairs, as well as reducing existing debt.
The grants are administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Recipients include both fire companies and EMS organizations serving communities throughout the district.
“First responders deserve unwavering advocacy and support. These grant awards are just one small way to demonstrate our gratitude for all they do without spending General Fund tax dollars. Many of the companies in my district are run by volunteers and need these dollars to make equipment upgrades, so they can continue to serve our communities safely,” said Rowe. “Thank you to all who answer the call of duty!”
Funding for these grants is sourced from slot machine gaming proceeds, not from General Fund tax revenue. The ongoing program was established by the Legislature and is managed by both the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. Grant amounts depend on recipients submitting their agreements with the state office.
