About 23.6 percent of the 868 degrees and certificates handed out by Bucknell University in 2017-18 were to students in social sciences programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency’s National Center for Education Statistics shows the private not-for-profit institution in Lewisburg conferred 205 bachelor’s degrees in social sciences programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor’s degree in general economics. Data shows the school gave out 111 bachelor’s degrees in general economics, followed by 59 bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance and 53 bachelor’s degrees in general psychology.

The university enrolled 3,668 students for 2017-18, including 3,597 in undergraduate programs and 71 in graduate programs.
