Geisinger College’s School of Medicine will hold its 16th annual Turkey Trot on Sunday, November 2, in downtown Scranton. The event features both a 5K and a 10K run for adults, as well as the Tiny Trot for children aged 13 and younger. Activities for children include crafts, games, face painting, and relay races.

All proceeds from the race will go to Friends of the Poor, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting individuals facing poverty. According to organizers, “Proceeds will benefit Friends of the Poor, a local nonprofit whose mission is to ease the burden of living in poverty.”

Registration for participants opens at 6:45 a.m. on race day in the main lobby of Geisinger College’s Medical Sciences Building at 525 Pine St., Scranton. Both adult races and the Tiny Trot are scheduled to start at 8 a.m., with all routes beginning and ending at the Medical Sciences Building.

Online registration is available until Friday, November 1. Fees are $30 for those participating in the 5K run or walk and $40 for the 10K. Registration for children participating in the Tiny Trot is free; however, organizers request that participants bring two canned goods as a donation on race day.

Those interested can register online at www.geisinger.org/turkeytrot.
