SCRANTON – Geisinger School of Medicine is inviting individuals to participate in its upcoming TEDx event. The event, scheduled for Thursday, October 2, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., will take place at the Medical Sciences Building located at 525 Pine St., Scranton. The theme for this year is “Fostering Humility.”

Event planner Calvin Kiniale, a member of Geisinger’s MD Class of 2027, stated, “For far too many of us, humility is equated with being weak or lacking confidence. We want to challenge that idea and showcase humility as a great strength that empowers you to connect with others and embrace lifelong learning. We are looking for speakers who will explore humility in science, medicine and education. Our goal is to spark thought-provoking conversations on the topic.”

TEDx talks are designed as community-based exchanges inspired by TED events. These brief presentations focus on ideas intended to spark discussion rather than promote products or services.

Those interested in participating can contact Dr. Ian McCoog at ijmccoog@geisinger.edu.

Geisinger College of Health Sciences aims to educate the next generation of healthcare leaders through innovation and purpose. The college emphasizes nondiscrimination in all employment and educational programs or activities. Concerns can be directed to the Title IX coordinator via geisinger.edu/titleix.
