A Geisinger pediatrician, Pat Bruno, M.D., has been recognized with the Juniata College William E. Swigart Alumni Humanitarian Award for his efforts in preventing child abuse and developing support programs for abused children. Dr. Bruno expressed gratitude for the award, acknowledging his team’s contributions over more than two decades.

Dr. Bruno has extensive experience in addressing child abuse and neglect cases, having served as medical director at the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Central Susquehanna Valley until 2024. He continues to work in pediatrics and is an associate professor at Geisinger School of Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bruno has evaluated over 6,000 children for maltreatment and testified on behalf of victims across various counties. He is board certified in child abuse pediatrics and a fellow of the American Board of General Pediatrics.

In addition to his humanitarian award, Dr. Bruno has received multiple accolades including the Thomas Paine Award for Journalism from the Central Susquehanna ACLU in 2013 and 2019, and the Dr. Chuck Fasano Memorial Red Cross Award for Medical Heroes in 2014.

Geisinger is a prominent provider of value-based care serving central and northeastern Pennsylvania with significant economic impact on the state. The organization joined Risant Health in 2024 to further its mission of expanding value-based care nationwide.
