Geisinger has launched a new kidney specialty clinic in Scranton, Pennsylvania, aiming to enhance access to specialized kidney care in the northeastern region of the state. The facility, located on the second floor of 521 Mount Pleasant Drive, is named Geisinger Nephrology Scranton and offers treatment for a range of kidney conditions.
The clinic will address various issues from kidney stones to more complex conditions such as hypertension, acute kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. Three nephrologists have been appointed to serve at this new location: Dr. Mohammad Al Khateeb, Dr. Badar U Din Shah, and Dr. Mugda Kulkarni.
Dr. Al Khateeb is an alumnus of Hashemite University School of Medicine in Jordan and recently completed a nephrology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. His experience includes diagnosing and treating both acute and chronic kidney diseases and managing renal transplant patients.
Dr. Shah graduated from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. He also completed his fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center where he focused on comprehensive assessments for patients with various kidney disorders including electrolyte imbalances and hypertension.
Dr. Kulkarni earned her medical degree from Ashwini Rural Medical College in India and finished her nephrology fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC). Her work involved treating a wide spectrum of kidney disorders along with participating in research projects.
The team at Geisinger Nephrology Scranton will provide consultations during their operational hours from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with appointments available by calling 800-275-6401.
