Geisinger Marworth Treatment Center is organizing its ninth annual Recovery Fun Run on Sunday, September 7. The event will begin at 10 a.m. on the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail in Scranton.
Participants can choose between a 5k run or a 1-mile walk. The event aims to raise funds for the Geisinger Marworth Therapeutic Activities Fund, which provides support for healthy and sober activities for patients after they leave treatment to help them maintain their recovery.
Medals will be given to male and female winners in each age group. All participants will also have the chance to win prizes through a raffle drawing.
Those who register before September 4 will pay $25 and are guaranteed a race T-shirt. Registration on the day of the event costs $30, with T-shirts available while supplies last. Check-in is scheduled from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m., and runners will gather at the Olive Street trailhead at the Scranton Half Marathon pavilion.
Registration information is available online, and more details about Geisinger Marworth’s Therapeutic Recreation Program can be found at marworth.org.
