Geisinger has announced a $275,000 donation to support Pennsylvania food banks during the ongoing federal government shutdown. The funds will be distributed to organizations including the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and CEO Weinberg Food Bank, which supply resources to local pantries and cupboards in central, north-central, western, and northeastern regions of the state.
Terry Gilliland, M.D., president and CEO of Geisinger, stated, “At Geisinger, being the best means caring for one another and for the communities we serve. These are particularly challenging times for many of our community members, so Geisinger is doing its best to help take care of our patients, members and communities.”
Individuals seeking assistance can access a directory of resources through NeighborlyPA.com or download the Neighborly app on Apple and Android devices. The platform connects users with food pantries, mobile distributions, community meals, utility aid, heating assistance, and other services throughout Pennsylvania. Additionally, Geisinger offers support from social workers for patients in need.
