Geisinger College of Health Sciences announced on April 7 that it will hold a free public discussion about the impact of environmental chemical exposures on health. The event, titled “Environmental Chemicals: Our Bodies, Our Communities and Our Health,” is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the college’s campus located at 525 Pine St., Scranton.
The session aims to help attendees understand how everyday exposure to chemicals can affect both individual and community well-being. Carly McCabe, PhD, a researcher at Geisinger, will lead the discussion and share recent research findings as well as practical advice for reducing risks related to chemical exposure.
Topics will include common sources of environmental chemical exposure, new evidence linking these exposures to health outcomes, strategies for reducing risk in daily life, and information about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs). The event will also address how preventive care can support education and awareness efforts around these issues.
Registration is open to all members of the public who are interested in learning more about this topic. Those wishing to attend can sign up online at go.geisinger.edu/environment.
