Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) held a Municipal Grant Seminar on October 1 at the Montour County Administration Building in Danville. The seminar brought together local officials and community leaders to learn about funding opportunities and resources available throughout Pennsylvania.
Speakers at the event included Joe Marsicano, Funding and Resource Specialist for the Senate of Pennsylvania; Paul Macknosky, Regional Director for the Department of Community and Economic Development; Leslie Cote, Project Specialist with PENNVEST; and Wes Fahringer, Regional Advisor for the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
“This seminar was designed to provide practical information about how municipalities and organizations can access grant funding to support local projects,” Culver said. “I am grateful to our partners who shared their expertise and to the many local leaders who joined us to strengthen their communities.”
Attendees received information on various grant programs that cover infrastructure improvements, water and sewer system upgrades, conservation efforts, recreation initiatives, and rural development. Presenters also discussed best practices for preparing grant applications and connecting with technical assistance.
Culver highlighted the value of collaboration between local leaders and state agencies. She stated, “when local leaders and state agencies work together, we can maximize resources and make sure taxpayer dollars are being used effectively.”
